Children learn through hands on exploration

The Acton Children's School provides a child-centered environment carefully designed by devoted and experienced teachers to facilitate the development of new skills. Children may explore and discover via hands-on, concrete and developmentally appropriate experiences. An environment that offers both teacher facilitated and child initiated activities provides for a balanced curriculum. Caring teachers respond to the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of the individual child, while also meeting the needs of the group as a whole. Opportunities are provided for children to use their capabilities to the fullest and to facilitate their transition to more advanced thinking and acting. Portions of the day are spent in age integrated activities.
